What means SRA?
Some history of Satanic Ritual Abuse.
Beginning in the early 1980s, reports of child abuse involving satanic rituals began to circulate, primarily among clinicians dealing with child abuse and severe dissociative disorders. These rituals were alleged to occur within the context of a “vast international, multigenerational conspiracy” (Putnam 1991). Bizarre rituals of torture, human and animal sacrifice, perverted sex, sexual and physical abuse, cannibalism, necrophilia, and breeding of babies for human sacrifice were described by both adults and children. These rituals were reported to occur in basements of homes, churches, and day care centers and to involve black-robed persons using satanic paraphernalia such as candles, altars, knives, and other satanic symbols. Children describing such rituals were participants in some of America’s biggest day care-center trials (Pendergrast 1995). Adults describing satanic ritual abuse (SRA) usually had severe dissociative disorders, including dissociative identity disorder (DID; formerly called multiple personality disorder) and dissociative disorder not otherwise specified or DDNOS (Feldman 1993; Hill and Goodwin 1989; Mulhern 1994; Ofshe 1992).
